Initial Design Consultation

Site Analysis
It is important to start with an inventory of all features that relate to the current landscape.
A site analysis contains the following information: property lines, house and other structures, major trees and planting beds, hardscaping, utilities locations, topography, views, drainage issues, unsightly items.
A site analysis can help to make informed design and planning decisions. It can also help to prevent expensive design errors.
To set up an appointment for a site analysis you will need to have on hand:
- site survey (if available)
- survey plat (found with closing papers)
- blueprints (if available)
How can a site analysis save me money?
By reviewing site conditions and making decisions based upon this knowledge
you can avoid costly errors like poor plant choices, inferior lighting
products, and lack of proper irrigation.
Design Drawings
Design services include any time a project calls for a scaled drawing. It can be a simple foundation planting, a specific garden area (like a swimming pool or perennial garden) or a complete master plan of the entire property. Drawings include hardscaping layout, detailed planting plan, and lighting layout.
I will give you a total fee for the design upon review of the site and design details desired.
These are examples of my fees to give you an idea of the design budget. They include an initial consultation, site analysis, design hours, and presentation meeting. Additional hours would be added for extensive research, contractor meetings or off-site meetings (e.g. nursery tour).
Frontyard/Foundation Design: $300.00-400.00
Backyard/Swimming Pool Design: $375.00-525.00
Master Plan (in-town/smaller lot): $600.00 and up
Master Plan (larger lot): $725.00 and up
50% of the fee is due when the design bid is accepted and the balance paid at the presentation meeting when final documents are delivered.
Installation Services
Once you are satisfied with the design, it is now time to decide what parts of the design to implement and who is going to install it. I can help by working directly with contractors from start to finish, provide recommendations, review bids, and supervise installation.
Installation fee: $65 per hour
